  • Determine the objective function
  • Use the EVT (Extreme Value Theorem and First Derivative to find values and dimensions that optimize the objective function)
    • EVT theorem basically states that IF a function has a minimum or maximum, then that maximum will occur at the extremes of the interval of domain or at the zeros of the first derivative or not at all
  • Examples 
    • Open top box volume from surface area
    • Maximum and Minimums sums from products of positive numbers
    • Maximum and Minimums products from sums of positive numbers
