Polygons

Goals: 
  • Be able to recognize and classify a polygon by its sides, angles, and diagonals 
  • Be able to determine missing angle measurements related to a polygon
  • Be able to determine the interior angle sum of a polygon
  • Be able to determine the exterior angle sum of a polygon 
  • Be able to connect the measures of interior and exterior angle of a polygon
  • Be able to distinguish the difference between regular and irregular polygons.
  • Understand the connection to right triangles and regular polygons 
  • Determine the perimeter and area of a regular polygon

Quadrilaterals

Goals: 
  • Be able to state the five basic properties implied by the word parallelogram
  • Be able to determine missing angles and sides related to a parallelogram
  • Be able to connect a diagonal to its related parallel line properties
  • Be able to connect a diagonal to its related triangle properties
  • Be able to connect a pair of diagonals to its related triangle properties  
  • Be able to classify the four different types of parallelograms by their special properties 
  • Be able to distinguish the similarities and differences between different types of parallelograms
  • Be able to use slope to classify different types of parallelograms 
    • Be able to determine slopes of any line
    • Be able to find slopes of parallel lines
    • Be able to find slopes of perpendicular lines
